CoinWorks Plants Mangrove Trees With Funders And Borrowers, Emphasizes Commitment To Carbon Trace Reduction
JAKARTA - CoinWorks, the first neobank for MSMEs in Indonesia, held a mangrove tree planting event with the theme "Planting the Future, Transforming Lives". The event held at Pantai Indah Kapuk last Friday was a significant contribution to CoinWorks' vision to go to Fintech net-0 to reduce carbon emissions and aims at financial sustainability and the environment.
Financial solutions based on technology, cost-effective, and sustainable have changed the way people do financial matters, as well as helped overcome climate change. Angelique Timmer, Chief of Impact, and ESG CoinWorks, explained the role and mission of CoinWorks in this regard.
"CoinWorks' carbon footprint is physically low because we are a digital business. We also aim to make a difference for the environment by working from a green-certified building to go to Fintech net-0 (net zero) by 2025," he explained in a written statement, Monday, December 18.
CoinWorks has succeeded in reducing its operational carbon emissions by 30 percent to 169 tonnes of CO2 by September 2023, compared to 2022. CoinWorks has grown more than 1000 trees to compensate for another 30 percent of carbon, which exceeds the government's ambitions.
Together with employees, CoinWorks invites their ecosystem partners, namely financiers and MSMEs, to join this event by planting trees together to increase environmental impacts. They actively participate and follow the example of CoinWorks by planting trees to compensate for carbon emissions from their family or business activities.Angelique Timmer further stated the benefits of this tree planting event.
