Profile Of Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Minister Of Mines And Energy Of The Suharto Era
JAKARTA - Sad news came from Prof. Dr. Ir. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, M.Eng Minister of Mining for the 1998-1999 period at the time of President Soeharto. He breathed his last at RSCM Pavilion Kencana, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 01.03 WIB and was buried at TMP Kalibata in the afternoon.
Kuntoro Mangkusubroto is an Indonesian figure and professional who has a background in engineering and management.
Kuntoro was born on October 22, 1949 in Blitar, East Java, Indonesia and is known for its contributions in the field of energy and mineral resources (ESDM), development, project management, and crisis management.
Prior to serving as Minister of Mining, Kuntoro started his career as an expert staff of the young UP3DN (1983-1988), Assistant Assistant Administrative Minister of State Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia (1984), President Director of PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (1988-1989), President Director of PT Tambang Timah (1989-1994) and President Director of PLN from 2000 to 2001.
In 1993-1997, he occupied the position of Director General of General Mines, Department of Mines and Energy. Until finally in 1997-1998, he occupied the position of Deputy for Planning of the Investment Coordinating Board.

Kuntoro also received the Mahaputera Star Adipradana from the Government of Indonesia on August 13, 1999.
