Perum Bulog: The Number Of Recipients Of Rice Aid Increases By 8 Percent To 22 Million Recipients In 2024

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog said that the number of beneficiary families (KPM) of rice food assistance was added by 8 percent to 22 million recipients for 2024.

Public Relations and Institutional Manager of Perum BULOG Tomi Wijaya said previously the number of beneficiary families was 21.4 million. This figure was also updated by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) for the 2024 program.

"We received 21.4 million KPM from the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture and this continues to be updated by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. As the leading sector of those who have data, it will increase by 8 percent for 2024, so the total is approximately 22 million KPM," said Tomi during a media discussion in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 15.

Tomi said that the rice food aid program will continue until March 2024. This is a distribution program from the government through government rice reserves (CBP), where each KPM receives 10 kilograms of rice every month.

Furthermore, Tomi said that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would also consider extending aid until June 2024.

"So God willing, if the APBN is sufficient, maybe this can be realized for approximately the next 6 months, people will receive 10 kilograms of rice food assistance from beneficiary families," said Tomi.

Meanwhile, Perum BULOG ensures that the government's rice reserve stock for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 is very safe.

Currently, Bulog's rice stock reaches 1.4 million tons. With this amount, and added import assignments from the government, the need for Christmas and New Year is maintained.

The stock of 1.4 million tons of rice will be used for distribution until next year to maintain rice price stability in the community. Bulog has also succeeded in obtaining a contract of 1 million tons from an additional quota of rice importation assignments from the government at the end of 2023 of 1.5 million tons.

The government through Bapanas has assigned Bulog to carry out two main instruments to anticipate the turmoil in rice prices in the country through the Food and Market Operations Assistance program or Food Supply Stabilization (SPHP) with a total amount of 1.1 million tons to stable prices.

Furthermore, the additional Food Aid Rice is currently being distributed for December. The total Food Aid Rice distributed during 2023 has reached 1.4 million tons.
