The Ministry Of Health Provides 10 Thousand Puskesmas With Ultrasound Devices

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) provides 10 thousand health centers in Indonesia with ultrasonographic tools (USG) used in examination of the womb and preventing cases of death during childbirth.

"The issue of birth, right, the baby can be below, wrapped in the umbilical cord, and this causes a high mortality rate due to birth complications," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 14.

Budi said that so far the ultrasound equipment in Indonesia is only available at 2,200 health centers, so parents cannot carry out examinations and see the condition of the baby in the womb.

By the end of 2023, Budi said, it is targeted that 10 thousand health centers in Indonesia already have ultrasound equipment so that pregnant women in Indonesia can see their faces and baby conditions in the womb for free.

According to him, President Jokowi has instructed that the fulfillment of the needs of ultrasound equipment can be carried out immediately throughout the puskesmas network.

"When he sees the public, he is happy to respond quickly," he said.

Budi said the ultrasound was effective in detecting breast cancer early and heart disease as the disease with the most mortality rates in Indonesia.

In addition, said Budi, the content ultrasound tool can also be used to detect breast and heart cancer early.

"So the ultrasound can be used for mothers and children, it can also be used as radiolog for the detection of breast and heart cancer. Now 10 thousand health centers can detect three at a time," he said.
