Tens Of Years Old Lovers In Palangka Raya Become Suspects In Abortion Cases

PALANGKA RAYA - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Palangka Raya Police, Central Kalimantan named a 15-year-old couple as suspects / children in conflict with the law in abortion cases.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palangka Raya Police, Kompol Ronny M Nababan, said the lovers who were named in the abortion case had the initials N (female) and AR (male) have now been secured at the Palangka Raya Police Headquarters for intensive examination.

"N is subject to Article 77 A of Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning the stipulation of government regulations in lieu of Law No. 1 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection carries a penalty of 10 years in prison for a fine of Rp. 1 billion," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 14.

Meanwhile, for AR, said Ronny, Article 55 of the Criminal Code is subject to participating in an act that can be punished by Article 56 of the Criminal Code, namely being punished as people who help commit crimes.

"The modus operandi of this is that suspect N is determined to do this act because he does not want his pregnancy to be known by other people," he said.

The arrest of the lovebirds began with members of the Jekan Raya Sub-Sector Police conducting patrols on Jalan Mahir Mahar-Hiu Putih at the end, Wednesday (13/12) at 01.15 WIB. The two men used motorbikes and brought cardboard and hoes.

Because they were suspicious, the two were approached and tried to escape, until they were finally arrested. After an examination, it turned out that the baby boy's body was found in a plastic bag and it was admitted that both of them would bury the baby's body in the area.

"So when he was arrested, the baby mother with the initials N and her friend with the initials R. They admitted that they were told by AR to bury the baby. R was asked by AR to bury the baby's body. That's why R is still a witness, while AR and N have been named suspects," he said.

Ronny revealed, after being secured and examined, the suspect admitted that the body was the result of an illicit relationship outside of marriage between AR and N.

Then both agreed to abort the pregnancy which had been more than five months. Even before being aborted, N also took medicines that were intended to abort the baby's womb in his stomach.

This case is also still being investigated intensively by investigators who handle the case.

"For this incident, the police did not detain the two suspects. This is in accordance with the provisions of Article 32 paragraph 1 of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the justice system for children in detention should not be carried out in the event that children receive guarantees from parents or guardians and or institutions that children will not run away, do not eliminate or damage evidence and do not repeat these crimes," said Ronny.
