Porsche Tests Performance Improvement Taycan Turbo S, One Second Faster
JAKARTA - A leading sports car company like Porsche has always tried to provide the best by presenting high-performance vehicles to satisfy customers and automotive lovers. This effort is not only focused on the internal combustion engine (ICE) model, but also on electric cars.
Porsche recently announced an increase in performance at Taycan Turbo S, by undergoing independent testing. Test results show that the model is capable of reaching its highest speed or even one second faster than before.
Reported by Carscoops, Wednesday, December 13, the trial revealed an increase in acceleration at Taycan Turbo S, with the highest speed reaching 241 km/hour and being able to cover a distance of 400 meters within 10.3 seconds at a speed of 212 km/hour.

Although acceleration performance increases, the record time to reach 0-96 km/hour remains not faster. This indicates the existence of a fundamental mechanism responsible for performance improvement, known as an 'overboost' or the ability to power extra through electric motors for a short period of time.
Porsche has recognized the potential for overboosts since Taycan's launch, but also understands the risks of sustainable use that could damage electric motors. As a precautionary measure, this German manufacturer limits the function of overboosts to be active for only three seconds each time used.
Through observations of the way Taycan owners take advantage of vehicles and how motorbikes control long-term use, Porsche is confident in the durability of electric motors. As a result, the overboost function was expanded from the initial three seconds to 10 seconds, explaining why Taycan Turbo S reached faster acceleration in every achievement except at 96 km/hour, where the car had completed in less than three seconds.
