20th Birthday, Bunda Mulia School Holds A Cultural Themed Musical Event

JAKARTA - In the field of education, holistic education is very important because it provides a comprehensive approach to individual development, involving physical, emotional, social, and intellectual aspects.

Art plays an important role in holistic education by providing valuable contributions to the development of different aspects of individuals.

Among them is to provide space for creative expression and free thinking for students, help students develop their creativity, stimulate creation, hone critical thinking skills, students can express feelings, cope with stress, and understand their emotions better, help them develop social skills and much more.

Several examples of application of art in holistic education in the school environment are such as integrating art into other subjects, such as mathematics, science, or language, encouraging collaborative art projects where students work together to create joint works of art and hold school art exhibitions, holding art workshops involving various media, such as paintings, photography, or handicrafts.

In addition, it can also be done by applying art in everyday life, such as designing posters for social campaigns, creating art installations that focus on environmental issues, or decorating the school environment and organizing performing arts programs, such as drama, music, or dance.

Bunda Mulia School (BMS), which is a leading educational institution, is known to hold a spectacular musical event that presents Indonesian cultural heritage, in commemoration of its 20th anniversary.

It is known that there are two themes selected this year. A series of Indonesian folklore from various regions with the title Indonesia: Through the Looking Glass, presented by KB, TK and SD students. Then followed by Roro Jonggrang, presented by junior high and high school students.

"In this historic moment, we would like to thank everyone who has been part of this extraordinary journey," said the Academic Coordinator for Bunda Mulia School, Usha Ramachandran, in a written statement, quoted Tuesday, December 12.

The event, which took place on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Bunda Mulia University Auditorium, featured the extraordinary talents of students from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to High School (SMA).

This extravaganza musical is not only a talent show but is also proof of the holistic education provided at the Mulia School Mother. Apart from Roro Jonggrang, the audience was also treated to other folklore such as Malin Kundangan and Garuda Wisnu Kencana's adventures to the story of Timun Mas.

"The Musical BMS is held to provide opportunities for students to develop and showcase their artistic talents in the fields of dance, vocal arts, musical arts and drama arts," said the Principal of SMP Bunda Mulia School, Catharina Nuswantari.

This show features a mix of traditional and contemporary elements, demonstrating the school's commitment to preserving cultural heritage while at the same time embracing innovation.
