Ministry Of Health Records Active Cases Of COVID-19 Indonesia Reach 6,223 In The Last Week

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported that active cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia reached 6,223 patients, an increase of 0.1 percent in the past week.

Reporting from the Emerging Infection page of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, confirmed COVID-19 cases as of December 12, 2023 reached 6,815,576 cases or an increase of around 298 patients in the past week.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 6,647,428 patients had been declared cured, while the death cases reportedly reached 161,926 cases or the equivalent of 2.4 percent.

The World Health Organization (WHO) COVID-19 page presents a comparison of the global situation that occurred in the same period, namely 772,138,818 confirmed cases with 6,985,964 deaths.

The rate of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is still relatively lower than the achievement of Southeast Asia, where confirmed cases in the same period reached 61,203,510 cases, with 806,772 deaths.

The Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, confirmed that the development of cases in Southeast Asia was experienced by Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

For this reason, the Ministry of Health recommends the public to complete the COVID-19 vaccination in the midst of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Moreover, the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year celebrations have made people's mobility even higher.

"So it is highly recommended to immediately complete the COVID-19 vaccination, both primary and booster doses, according to the provisions," he said.
