Renault 5 E-Tech Cheap Electric Car Debuts Next Year For European Market

JAKARTA - After a little dispersal of design specifications and teasers that are not much different from the concept and image of its patent, Renault 5 E-Tech production model is rumored to be joining the Geneva Motor Show, February 26, 2024.

Quoted from the Auto Express page, Tuesday, December 12, this car will go on sale in the summer or mid-2024 and 2025 for the UK market.

"We are trying our best for this exciting car, designed and made in France. With its cheerful design and new generation of technology, it aims to make electric vehicles more affordable in Europe," said Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault.

Interestingly, this electric-born model will be reborn at a price of 25,000 euros or around IDR 421 million for the European market, as electric car incentives are still available, and the price allows for different countries.

In terms of appearance, Renault 5 will represent a new era for the company by leveraging its vast legacy, and will be a classic model with a modern touch in the future. More details as a whole this car has a futuristic design, visible from a distinctive lamp with a logo embedded in the center of the hood.

Meanwhile, this French brand will embed the traditional door handle, not a pop out like the concept version. Later the charging port will be placed right behind the front wheel arch, as in the larger Renault Megane E-Tech, while the back door handle will be placed in pillar C for a cleaner look.

Renault has leaked about the electric car platform and will use the AmpR Small, formerly called the CMF-B EV. The platform will also be the foundation for Renault 4's new to Renault Twingo.

Renault 5 will only be available with a 52kWh battery that offers a range of up to 248 miles or 400 km on a single charge. However, it is also rumored that Renault 5 will be available with a smaller 40kWh battery, which is likely to be able to reach a distance closer to 200 miles or 321 km.

As is known Renault 5 is an iconic model once produced by a French manufacturer in the past. The car was first launched in 1972 to 1996. In 2021, Renault launched the concept of Renault 5 EV. In addition, Renault's brother Alpine will also work on the 5 model with his own version.
