Minister Of ATR: People Must Proactively Register Waqf Land

JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto said the public must proactively register waqf land to avoid conflict.

"Our hope is that if there are uncertified waqf lands, we are obliged to complete them immediately, and before the end of 2024 all the uncertified waqf land should be submitted," said Hadi Tjahjanto as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 11.

He said the community needed to play an active role in registering waqf lands that had not been certified. That way, all waqf land can be registered and certified.

Hadi also admitted that he continued to coordinate with religious organizations regarding waqf land data that had not been certified. One of the efforts that has been made is to collaborate with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) and the Muhammadiyah Executive Board (PB).

"We continue to coordinate to immediately resolve it," said the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.

Registering waqf land is the obligation of the government and the community that owns the land. Hadi Tjahjanto said that with the certification of waqf land, it can avoid conflicts or land disputes.

"If the waqf land is not certified immediately, if in the future there are heirs who are still picking up, this is difficult to solve. Sometimes his grandfather, his grandmother, has donated the land for worship purposes, therefore it will be resolved immediately," he said.

The Ministry of ATR/BPN can help the community regarding the registration of waqf land so that the waqf land can have a certificate.

"God willing, we will follow up, there are Kakanwil (Head of Regional Office), Kakantah (Head of Land Office), and God willing, we will complete all waqf land including other houses of worship," said the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.
