Bayern Munich Targets Two Barcelona Defenders

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich are starting to hunt backline players. They are now focusing on strengthening the defense given the lack of depth and storm of injuries in the sector.

As reported by Sky Sports Deutschland, the two names on FC Hollywood's radar are Barcelona duo, Ronald Araujo and Clement Lenglet.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is attracted to Araujo and has made an approach. Even so, it seems that the 24-year-old's chances of bringing the player to Munich are slim.

The Uruguayan defender is expected to sign a contract extension with the Blaugrana.

There is still one more name, Lenglet. Currently he is being loaned to Aston Villa. However, the French defender has not played a single 2023/2024 Premier League match.

Villa only fielded the 28-year-old defender at the Europa Conference League. However, Lenglet is not a priority for Munich considering that his flight hours are lacking.

This means that Bayern Munich is now looking for other alternatives as a comparison.

In essence, The Bavarians focus on searching for defenders. No wonder they are not too interested in hunting for the signatures of midfielder Joao Palhinha who is also Arsenal and Liverpool's target.

Currently, Bayern is hit by a back player crisis. Matthijs de Ligt has gone through nine matches since injury on September 17, 2023.

The Dutch mainstay defender suffered a torn knee ligament. It is not yet known when he will return to play.

Not to mention the centre-back Tarek Bchmann and full-back Bouna Sarr who are not yet clear when they will recover.

Practically, Munich only relied on the remaining players without qualified depth. They only rely on Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Raphael Guerreiro, Alphonso Davies, Noussair Mazraoui, and Frans Kratzig.
