Melly Goeslaw's Response To The Use Of AI In Music Works
JAKARTA - Melly Goeslaw's newest song in collaboration with Nike Ardilla, Meet Again, use artificial intelligence (AI) in composing songs and video clips.
Assisted by Dimas Wibisana as producer, Nike Ardilla's vocals in the song Duka Pasti Berlalu were moved to a new musical work. In addition, Nike Ardilla also appears in the video clip.
Responding to the use of AI in musical works, Melly Goeslaw welcomed positively. He considered technology should be able to help musicians.
Reflecting on his collaboration with the late Nike Ardilla, Melly actually saw that technology could introduce previous musicians or singers to a new generation.
"In my opinion, this technology must be used as well as possible, as well as to revive (musicians) who have been around for a long time and first become a music person among Gen Z's children," said Melly Goeslaw in Kemang, South Jakarta last week.

"With this AI technology, I know that in the past there was a composer named Dadang S Manaf, this song, this and this," he continued.
For Melly Goeslaw, it is clear that the position of new technology in music should be used to enrich the music itself.
"That's what needs to be used. So, instead of being hostile to the new technology, it is used as well as possible to enrich it again," he said.
With AI, Melly also feels that her dream of collaborating with musicians who have gone away is very likely.
Melly is also not worried that the existence of AI can violate the rights of musicians and turn off their creativity. According to him, in Indonesia there are sufficient regulations so that there are no violations of rights.
"Still there will be a law. Because the song has a copyright, using people's faces is also not arbitrary. So, even though there is new technology, we have a law, so don't worry," said Melly Goeslaw.
"Use that technology as well as possible to bring back the history of music to anyone who used to be our inspiration," he concluded.
