Nurmawati, A Female Prisoner Who Escaped From Tangerang Class II A Prison Arrested In Lampung

Nurmawati, a prisoner entrusted by the police (Karawaci Police) who escaped from the Tangerang Class II A Women's Correctional Institution on Wednesday (6/12/2023), was finally arrested by a joint team from the Tangerang City Metro Police, and the Class II A Prison of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

The woman who was caught in the abuse case was arrested at her parents' house in Kasui Lama Village, Kasui District, Way Kanan Regency, Lampung Province, Saturday afternoon (9/12/2023).

Confirmed by the media crew, the Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Zain Dwi Nugroho confirmed that Nurmawati was arrested, the prisoner who had escaped from the Tangerang Class II A Women's Prison is currently on his way to Tangerang Mako Karawaci Police.

"It's true, the joint team from the Tangerang City Metro Police together with the Class II A prison employee of the Banten Ministry of Law and Human Rights have succeeded in arresting Nurmawati at her parents' residence in the Lampung area, around 16.00 WIB," said Zain in a brief statement.

He said that since information was obtained regarding detainees on behalf of Nurmawati, they fled from prison. The Tangerang City Metro Police, Polda Metro Jaya and Lapas Class II A immediately formed a joint team to hunt down the detainees to various places and locations suspected of being hiding.

Zain said the three-day search had finally paid off.

"We finally managed to secure the Karawaci Police who were involved in the persecution case without putting up a fight," said Zain again.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Class II A Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) Tangerang, Yekti Apriyanti, confirmed the arrest of Nurmawati who had fled.

"It is true that the joint team managed to arrest Nurmawati at her parents' residence in Lampung, this afternoon," said Yekti.

However, he did not want to explain in detail the arrest process.

"The joint team is on their way with Nurmawati to Tangerang," said Yekti.

The case of Nurmawati's escape began with a report by the Lotus Block guard post officer (tahan) at 12.30 WIB to the KPLP Guard and Staff Commander which was then copied to Ka. KPLP and Kalapas.

After finding out that Nurmawati had fled, the prison coordinated with the Police to pursue her.
