Britain's Absolute Attitude Against Ceasefire In Gaza Declines Criticism

JAKARTA - Save the Children on Friday criticized the British government for being abstained in voting at the UN Security Council over a ceasefire in Gaza.

The royal-based charity said its government was involved in the dire situation children in Gaza will face.

In an upload on X, SavetheChildren said Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the British government were again "ignoring" Gaza's children.

"By not voting for #CeasefireNOW at the UN Security Council, Britain is involved in the horror that children will experience in the next few hours, days and weeks," he said, as reported by Antara.

Britain chose abstain, while the United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution draft on Friday demanding an immediate ceasefire to stop bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.

Israel resumed its military operations in the Gaza Strip on December 1 after the humanitarian break with the Palestinian resistance groupHamas ended after a week.

At least 17,487 Palestinians have been killed and more than 46,480 others injured in Israel's non-stop attacks from the air and land in the Palestinian enclave since October 7 following Hamas' cross-border attacks.

On the other hand, the death toll in Israel as a result of the Hamas attack reached 1,200 people, according to official data.
