JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia Group through full-service Garuda Indonesia and low-cost carrier (LCC) Citilink have prepared at least 1.8 million flight seats during the peak season for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.
The details are 818,688 seats served by Garuda Indonesia, consisting of 607,283 seats for flights on domestic routes and 211,405 flight seats for international routes; and 1,071,936 seats provided by Citilink, consisting of 1,010,222 seats for domestic flights and 61,714 seats for international flights.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said the number of seats offered increased by more than 30 percent of the total number of seats offered in 2022/2023.
Furthermore, Irfan said that the optimization of flight capacity readiness is in line with the projected increase in air transportation demand during the year-end holiday period.
"The availability of flight seats during the peak season Nataru period was also supported by the operation of extra flights from Jakarta to a number of destinations," said Irfan in an official statement, Friday, December 8.
The several destinations in question include Balikpapan, Solo, Semarang, Pekanbaru, Lombok, Makassar, Kualanamu, and Manado operated by Garuda Indonesia; as well as various intra-Sumatra routes served by Citilink, such as Kualanamu-Gunung Sitoli pp, Kualanamu-Pekanbaru pp, as well as flights to Bali served from Jakarta and Lombok.
In addition to operating these additional flights, Garuda Indonesia also optimizes flight capacity through the operation of wide-body aircraft on certain routes such as Jakarta-Solo pp, Jakarta-Balikpapan pp, Jakarta-Bangkok pp, Jakarta-Haneda pp, and Jakarta - Melbourne pp.
Irfan said that throughout December 2023, Garuda Indonesia Group projects that it can operate around 11,454 flight frequencies per week, growing more than 22 percent compared to the Nataru period in 2022/2023.
"This number will continue to move dynamically in line with the trend of people traveling using air transportation at the end of this year," he explained.
