Bank Indonesia Records Number of QRIS Usage of 30 Million Merchants

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia noted that as many as 30 million merchants have used the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS).

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Juda Agung said that from this data, 24 million or 80 percent had been used by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"To date, the total number of QRIS merchants has reached more than 30 million, of which more than 80 percent are MSMEs," said Juda at the launch of the White Paper on the National Strategy for the Development of Indonesia's Digital Economy 2030, Wednesday, December 6.

Juda said that BI had launched the QRIS service as a game changer for digitalizing MSMEs. It can be seen that the QRIS service is more widely used by MSMEs to date.

To improve BI services, Juda said that his party is developing QRIS services by utilizing new features, namely go live and complete QRIS.

With this feature, QRIS can not only be used for payments but also for withdrawals, deposits and transfers at merchants.

"We hope that this will be increasingly beneficial for the community and MSMEs," concluded Juda.
