Bawaslu Will Call Gibran In The Aftermath Of Sharing Milk In CFD And Campaign Involve Children In Penjaringan

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) continues the process of examining alleged campaign violations by the candidate for vice president (cawapes) number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

There are two cases processed by Bawaslu, namely the activity of distributing milk in the car free day (CFD) area of Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta and the campaign involving children in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

In both cases, Central Jakarta Bawaslu will summon Gibran to clarify whether Gibran is right in carrying out a campaign in a place that should be sterile from these political activities.

This is because Benny said that the Gibran campaign team did not convey an activity notification in the CFD area last Sunday to the Central Jakarta Bawaslu.

"Bawaslu Central Jakarta will immediately summon parties involved in distributing milk in the CFD area. All parties will be officially clarified," said DKI Bawaslu Violation Management Division Coordinator Benny Sabdo in a short message, Wednesday, December 6.

There are two articles that Gibran allegedly violated in this case. First, the violation of Article 280 paragraph (1) letter j of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections which emphasizes the prohibition of campaigns by promising or giving money or other materials to campaign participants.

"In this case, milk is not a campaign material," said Benny.

Then, Gibran is also suspected of violating Article 7 paragraph (2) of the DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 12 of 2016 concerning the Implementation of Motor Vehicle Free Day.

"In the governor's regulation, car free day should not be used for the benefit of political parties, let alone campaign activities," he said.

Then, North Jakarta Bawaslu will also ask Gibran for clarification on campaign activities involving these children.

"The North Jakarta Bawaslu will immediately summon the parties involved in the case. All parties will be officially clarified," said Benny.

There are two articles that Gibran allegedly violated in this case, one of which is Article 280 paragraph (2) letter k of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, emphasizing the prohibition of campaign activities involving children.

"Second, the alleged violation of Article 15 letter (a) of Law 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection states that there should be no abuse of children for political activities," he added.
