US Urges Israel To Add Assistance To Gaza

JAKARTA - The US Department of State highlighted humanitarian assistance that entered Gaza was insufficient, and said Washington was working with Israel to increase the assistance.

"There is still a lot that has not been done at this time," said US Department of State Department Matthew Miller in a press conference reported by Anadolu, Wednesday, December 6.

"(Assistance) needs to be improved, and we have explained it to the Israeli government," he continued.

Miller said fuel, food and water assistance that entered the Palestinian pockets, which were under Israeli bombings, were insufficient.

The number of trucks passing to Gaza only reaches around 100 trucks. According to him, this number was less than before the humanitarian break was applied recently, so assistance to Gaza needs to be added.

The United Nations said that access to aid to North Gaza had been fully blocked when the conflict increased in the southern region.

Israel continued its military attack on Friday last week in the Palestinian pockets, after a humanitarian break for a week with the Palestinian Hamas group ended.

It was recorded that 16,248 Palestinians died and more than 43,616 people were injured in Israeli air and land strikes in the pocket area since October 7, 2023. The death toll on Israel reached 1,200 people.
