KedaiKopi Survey Results: 64.1 Percent of Respondents Urge the DPR to Continue the Right to Inquiry

JAKARTA - Respondents consisting of Gen Z asked the DPR to issue a right of inquiry to conduct investigations and investigate the results of the constitutional court's decision. Undoubtedly, 64.1% of respondents agreed that the DPR's right to inquiry would be used.

Survey activities were held by KedaiKopi in the province on the island of West Java spread across five locations in the period 18-25 November 2023.

There were various questions asked during the poll, such as money politics, privilege in the world of politics, the DPR's right to inquiry regarding the Constitutional Court's controversial decision, determining factors in choosing a president and criteria for presidential candidates who are pro-youth.

A total of 1269 people expressed their aspirations on issues that were the subject of national discussion. Demographically, the number of people's Mobil Idea visitors is 54.6% male and 42.7% female, 78.1% are Gen Z and 52.3% are students.

Several poll results revealed that as many as 75.8% of respondents stated that their votes could not be bought even if they were given something by the candidate.

On the question of privilege in a political career, 58.6% expressed their view that young people can have a fast political career using their intelligence and competence.

However, 39.2% of respondents think it is difficult for young people to have a fast career in politics if they are not supported by strong insider influence.

Head of the People's Idea Car program, Rifqi Islami, said that when gen z respondents were asked what they wanted about young politicians in an open question, there were two top answers, namely pro-people and real work.

Rifqi said that when asked whether the DPR needed to issue a right of inquiry to carry out investigations and investigate the results of the Constitutional Court's decision, 64.1% answered that this was necessary.

"When asked what was a priority in choosing a president, vision and mission were at the top of the list of very important by 39.5% of respondents and campaign promises were at the bottom at 8.3%," he explained.

Respondents who were dissatisfied considered that the president's job in the next five years should be to resolve issues that are of concern, such as the persistence of corruption (21.4%), unstable economic conditions (21.2%) and poverty (19.2%) .

Founder of the KedaiKOPI Survey Institute Hendri Satrio highlighted the poll results which stated that people, especially Gen Z, prioritize vision and mission rather than political gimmicks, "this proves that young voters are smart in choosing their future leaders."

Hensat said that the aspirations of the people should be heard by everyone involved in the election, not just the KPU, Bawaslu, political parties, presidential election candidates. But it is also the current ruler who will hand over the baton to the new leader.

"It is hoped that the presence of MIR (People's Idea Car) will inspire other groups to imitate the same thing. "It doesn't have to be a car, it can be another vehicle, the important thing is that it can capture the aspirations of the people and the results will be communicated back to the people, expressed to all elements involved in the 2024 elections," he concluded.
