The Ministry Of Health Trains The Competency Of WHO Standard Health Reserves

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) is increasing the competence of health reserves to meet global standards required by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This statement was made by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin after inaugurating the type 2 Health Reserve-Emergency Medical Team (TCK-EMT) at Campground and Graha Wisata Cibubur, East Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5.

"I hope that we can organize this exercise, we will carry out it with one target. The target is that as soon as possible the Indonesian health reserve team (TCK-EMT) can be approved by WHO to enter type 2," he said through the Ministry of Health's Bureau of Communication and Public Services, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

Minister of Health Budi targets this Type 2 TCK-EMT to obtain certification from WHO so that it can play a role in humanitarian missions during domestic and foreign natural disasters.

Type 2 TCK-EMT Health Reservers are strengthened by 90 people consisting of pharmaceuticals, orthopedics, surgicals, internal diseases, and children, all in accordance with WHO standards.

"There are ten countries that have entered type 2 for their health reserve team. So, I entrust it to all of you, come on, our nation is a big nation, the fourth most population is in the world and must be part of a country that has Type 2 TCK-EMT," he said.

Reporting from the WHO page, EMT types are in accordance with qualifications and competencies based on types of health services divided into four types.

Mobile Type 1 EMT (Mobile) has the competence to carry out basic medical services, outpatients, and emergency services mobile and make referrals.

EMT Type 1 Tengah (Fixed) conducts basic outpatient and emergency medical services that are permanent in one location and make referrals.

EMT Type 2 performs Type 1 EMT services with the support of inpatient services, general surgical services, handling emergency cases (emergency), handling injuries/traumatics, obstetrical surgery services and other specialist services adapted to disaster events and added referral services.

EMT Type 3 provides EMT Type 2 services plus intensive care services and advanced referrals.

EMT Specialist Care Team is an additional special care team consisting of certain specialists who can be assigned to local health facilities or join the Type 2 or Type 3 EMT, or other assignment sites as needed.

Earlier in May 2023, the Ministry of Health had confirmed the type 1 TCK-EMT which had been deployed on humanitarian missions during natural disasters in Turkey.

However, type 1 TCK-EMT may only provide first aid and treat mild patient care and are not allowed to carry out operations according to the standards set by WHO.
