Anies Says Investment In Indonesia Rises But Jobs Don't Increase

Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, said there was a discrepancy in the current investment returns in Indonesia. According to him, investment entering the country has increased, but employment opportunities have not increased significantly.

This was revealed by Anies in a limited meeting with the people of North Sumatra on the sixth day of the 2024 presidential election campaign period.

"The job opportunities for young people, high school, high college, looking for easy work is difficult? Out there, the investment is moving up. Investment in Indonesia is rising. But jobs are not added," said Anies at the Dispora Pancing Sports Center, Deli Serdang, Medan, Sunday, 3 Desemebr.

Anies revealed that the reason this could happen is because currently the investments entering Indonesia are in areas that do not absorb a large number of workers.

One of them is the mining sector. According to him, investing in mining does increase state revenue, but does not provide many jobs.

On that basis, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta promised to seek additional investment in sectors that create massive employment opportunities.

"We will change it through changes, investment in areas that absorb as much labor as possible. Industry, manufacturing, agriculture, that must be encouraged," said Anies.

On that occasion, Anies also promised to eradicate the food mafia. This is expressed in his awareness about the high price of rice but farmers get low profits.

"If the price of rice is expensive but felt by farmers, then maybe we will be sincere. But (in fact) we pay for expensive rice, farmers receive it cheaply, the money is lost on the road. This is the mafia that we will eradicate through changes in February tomorrow," he said.
