Sirna's Hope After Israel Returns To Attack Gaza
JAKARTA - UN officials declared "hopes of disappearing" after Israeli airstrikes hit Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip on Friday, following the end of a week's humanitarian break.
"This week shows us what can happen when weapons stop being fired. The situation in Khan Younis today is a surprising reminder when weapons are fired again," saidMartin Griffiths, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Assistance Coordinator, in a statement quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Saturday, December 2.
He said during the humanitarian break, the hostages were released and sick people were receiving treatment. The number of aids entering and crossing Gaza has also increased over the past seven days.
"Today, in just a few hours, many people were reported dead and injured. People were asked to evacuate, once again," he said.

"Almost two months of war raging, children, women and men inGaza are in fear. There is no safe place to save themselves. They live in the midst of disease, damage and death. This is unacceptable." Griffiths continued.
He reiterated the need for a humanitarian ceasefire and the release of the remaining hostages.
"We have to stop this war," he said.
After the humanitarian break ended, the Israeli military returned to attack the Gaza Strip on Friday which resulted in hundreds of Palestinian casualties.
A total of 109 Palestinians were killed and several others injured after Israel returned to attack several areas in the Gaza Strip after the break ended, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
