The Debate Of Vice Presidential Candidates Called Anies A Way Of Respecting The People

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate (candidate) number one, Anies Baswedan asked for a debate on the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) to be held. The future leaders' companions should show their skills by explaining their thoughts to the public.

"This is a matter of respecting the Indonesian people. Don't hide it, but show it," said Anies at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta, Saturday, December 2.

The community must be respected as the determinant of the nation in the future. Therefore, the public has the right to listen to the ideas of the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"So that the Indonesian people can see closely every candidate," he said.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has changed the debate format for the presidential-vice presidential candidate (candidate-vice presidential candidate) for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). The presidential-vice presidential candidate pair will attend every joint debate session.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said the policy was made so that voters could see the cooperation between the presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

"So that the public will be more confident in the teamwork between the presidential and vice presidential candidates in their appearance in the debate," said Hasyim when confirmed, Friday, December 1.

This format is different from the 2019 presidential election. At that time, the vice presidential candidate had the opportunity to two times explain his vision and mission when accompanying his presidential candidate when elected.
