Firm! Kalapas Bans 2024 Election Campaign At Tarakan Prison, Kaltara
The political party (parpol) and participants of the 2024 General Election are prohibited from holding campaigns within the Tarakan Penitentiary (Lapas) in North Kalimantan (Kaltara).
The prohibition was conveyed by the Head of Tarakan Class II A Prison, Sutarno. According to him, only socialaization activities to Correctional Inmates (WBP) or convicts by the General Elections Commission are permitted.
"So far, there has been no campaign because we are neutral. If the socialization is directly from the KPU," he said in Tarakan, Kaltara, Friday, December 1, was confiscated by Antara.
Meanwhile, the number of voters in Tarakan Class II A Prison is also still fluctuating, and the data continues to be updated by the prison as well as changes in population data in collaboration with Disdukcapil
"For now, voter data is still fluctuating, yes, it keeps changing," said Sutarno.

Meanwhile, the Tarakan KPU explained that so far the socialization process has been carried out in the context of political education to WBP. The KPU also hopes that there will be access to information that can be received, although limited.
"If in prison there may be some access to information that is not limited, hear radio maybe, later we will go there too, regarding the socialization of the voting procedure," said KPU Commissioner Tarakan of the Socialization Division of Community Participation Herry Fitrian.
Socialization activities in prisons are also carried out by the KPU in collaboration with several organizations
"So far, several cooperation organizations with us have been there, for political education to inmates," said Herry.
The KPU also said that there were five special polling stations that would be placed in Tarakan Class II A Prison. KPPS officers including the head of the KPPS will be filled by guards from Tarakan Class II A Prison.
