Former KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo Said Jokowi Asked For The Setnov Case To Be Stopped, Palace: In Fact, The Legal Process Is Running

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said the legal process of former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto in the 2017 electronic ID card corruption case had been proven to be in accordance with applicable law.

This was conveyed by Ari Dwipayana regarding the statement of former KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo in the ROSI program on Kompas TV. Agus said President Joko Widodo in 2017 had asked him to stop the Setya Novanto corruption case.

"If we look at the reality, the legal process against Mr. Setya Novanto as we know it will run together in 2017. It went well and there was already a court decision that had permanent legal force at that time," said Ari Dwipayana as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

Ari said President Joko Widodo in an official statement on November 17, 2017, had also emphasized that Setya Novanto at that time followed the legal process at the KPK.

"And the President believes that the legal process will go well," said Ari.

Regarding the revision of the KPK Law, Ari said that this was an initiative of the DPR in 2019 and not an initiative from the government.
