Distribution Of Electric Motors Far From Target, Ministry Of Industry Efforts To Standardize Batteries
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to strive to attract people to switch to electric motors. One of them is by encouraging efforts to standardize electric motorcycle batteries.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, said that his party had received a commitment from a number of electric motorcycle and electric motorcycle battery manufacturers who were ready to standardize batteries.
"In the future, we want to encourage the standardization of electric motor batteries. With the standardization of electric batteries, such as the standard dimension of the object, we hope that there are many investors who want to invest in electric batteries. Then from the consumer side, it will be easier to swap or shift," Febri told reporters in Jakarta, quoted Friday, December 1.
Febri said, with standardization, consumers will get convenience because the electric motor battery component is uniform so that it is easier to get on the market.
"So, for example, if you buy an electric motorcycle A, and then when for example the battery is run out, now they can use the battery from another electric motorbike because there is already standardization. That means, if there is standardization, the market will be wider," he said.
He said that battery standardization is also expected to encourage domestic battery industry players to develop.
"If it is standardized, many will want production. So, the batteries are standard, the brands are various," said Febri.
Furthermore, Febri assessed that there are other factors that cause the public's lack of interest in switching to electric motors, namely ecosystems including limited refill locations, as well as workshops or service facilities for repairing electric vehicles.
"People, right, if there are many who use it, it feels like they want to join in. From the production side, we can do a lot, the problem is in the public's request that needs to be boosted," he said.
Therefore, Febri asked the industry to intensify marketing the electric vehicle products they produce. He said the government as a regulator had provided considerable incentives and assistance.

"We hope that the socialization will be carried out by motorcycle manufacturers, right, they have advertisements, they must be more aggressive. We have already provided a subsidy of Rp. 7 million, right, it's free advertising, only producers. They have to convey the advantage of electric motorbikes so that people are interested," he said.
Meanwhile, based on the Information System page for the Purchase of Two-wheeled Electric Vehicles (SISAPIRa) as of Friday, December 1 at 09.50, there is still a quota of 184,652 units of assistance for discounted purchase prices for electric motorcycles.
A total of 4,148 units have been distributed, 4,576 units of which have been verified, and 6,624 are still in the registration process stage.
"We see that it does not appear that the target of 200,000 units will not reach," added Febri.
