Batang Port Construction Corruption, Contractors Sued 9.5 Years In Prison And 8.5 Years In PPK Project
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Ujung Galuh Perkasa Syihabuddin was charged with 9.5 years in prison in the alleged corruption case of the continued construction project for the Batang Sea Port facility for the 2015 fiscal year.
The defendant Syihabuddin, who is the boss of the contractor company implementing the Batang Sea Port construction, was also demanded to pay compensation for state losses of Rp9.2 billion and a fine of Rp500 million which if not paid would be replaced with imprisonment for 4 months.
"To declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001," said Public Prosecutor (JPU) Eko Hartoyo during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, Wednesday, November 29, which was confiscated by Antara.
In their consideration, the prosecutor stated that there was an overpayment of around Rp. 12 billion.
The defendant Syihabuddin has just returned the overpayment of the port construction budget of around Rp3.2 billion

Apart from Syihabuddin, another defendant in this case PPK of the Batang Class III Port Organizing Unit (UPP) Office, Haryani Octaviantiningsih, was charged with 8.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 400 million.
In their consideration, the prosecutor said the two defendants did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption.
Upon the prosecutor's demands, the judge invited the defendant to present his defense at the upcoming trial.
