Vice President: Army Chief Of Staff Maruli Simanjuntak Must Maintain The Integrity Of The Nation In Facing The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, who had just been inaugurated, had the main job to maintain the stability and integrity of the nation, especially when facing the 2024 General Election.

"Kasad is of course in order to jointly maintain stability, integrity. Do not let the general election have disturbances," said Vice President Ma'ruf as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

Vice President Ma'ruf emphasized that the task of the new Kasad is to maintain stability, and help maintain domestic security so that the 2024 General Election can run peacefully.

To maintain that stability, the new Kasad must ensure the neutrality of all soldiers below it. If there are indications that TNI soldiers are not neutral in the election, said the Vice President, it could cause disruption to the national situation.

On Wednesday, November 29, afternoon, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Commander of Kostrad Lieutenant General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as Army Chief of Staff, as stated in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 103/TNI in 2023.

With this inauguration, Maruli received a one-level promotion to become a TNI General, as stated in Presidential Decree number 104/TNI in 2023 concerning promotions to high-ranking TNI officers.
