Competing with ChatGPT, AWS Introduces Amazon Q: Chatbot for Enterprise

JAKARTA - Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced Amazon Q, a new AI generative chatbot created specifically to answer specific statements about a company.

AWS says that Amazon Q can provide employees with information and suggestions to simplify tasks, speed up decisio-making and problem-solving, and help spark creativity and innovation in the workplace.

Furthermore, AWS also stated that Amazon Q is designed to be able to personalize interactions for each user based on their existing identity, role and organizational permissions.

AWS helps customers leverage generative AI with solutions across all three layers of the stack, including infrastructure, tools, and purpose-built applications. "Amazon Q is a powerful addition to the application layer of our generative AI stack that opens up new possibilities for every organization," said Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Data and Artificial Intelligence, quoted from the official AWS website on Wednesday, November 29.

Apart from that, Amazon Q is also claimed to be able to simplify daily communication, such as helping employees with tasks such as creating blog posts, summarizing documents, compiling emails, and creating meeting agendas.

Although Amazon Q will provide answers and insights that are accurate and consistent with the customer's source material and knowledge, customers can still use additional administrative controls to block topics and filter final questions and answers.

“The new Amazon Q capabilities in QuickSight help our analysts create dashboards in hours, whereas it used to take days,” said Christoph Albrecht, data analysis and engineering consultant at BMW Group in his testimonial about Amazon Q.

Users can access Amazon Q through the AWS Management Console or individual company documentation pages, developer environments such as Slack, and other third-party applications.
