BMKG: Extreme Weather In Central Java Potentially Until November 30
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts extreme weather in the form of rain with moderate to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds has the potential to occur in a number of areas of Central Java on November 28-30, 2023.
"Based on data released by the BMKG of the Ahmad Yani Semarang Meteorological Station this afternoon, the potential for extreme weather was triggered by the warm sea temperature in the waters of Central Java or the Java Sea," said Head of the BMKG Technician Group of the Tunggul Wulung Meteorological Station, Cilacap Teguh Wardoyo, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 28.
According to him, extreme weather was also triggered by Rossby's atmospheric waves in the north coastal area of Java.
In addition, he said, the humidity is quite high from the surface layer to the 500 millibar layer and strong local lability that supports the convective process on a local scale observed in Central Java.
Based on this analysis, areas that have the potential for extreme weather on Tuesday (28/11) include Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Magelang Regency/City, Boyolali Regency, Karanganyar, Sragen, Grobogan, Blora, Semarang Regency, Temanggung, Salatiga, Purworejo, Kebumen, Klaten, Pemalang, Kendal, Batang, Surakarta, and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (29/11), extreme weather has the potential to occur in Banyumas, Purbalingga, Boyolali, Karanganyar, Sragen, Grobogan, Temanggung, Wonosobo, Salatiga, Purworejo, Kebumen, Klaten, Pemalang, Kendal, Batang, Blora, Surakarta, Sukoharjo, and surrounding areas.

Furthermore, areas that have the potential for extreme weather on Thursday (30/11) include Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Magelang Regency/City, Boyolali, Karanganyar, Sragen, Grobogan, Blora, Temanggung, Salatiga, Purworejo, Kebumen, Klaten, Pemalang, Surakarta, Karimun Java, Kudus, Demak, and surrounding areas.
"In this regard, we urge the public to remain vigilant against potential extreme weather that has the potential to cause hydrometeorological disasters in the form of floods, landslides, and strong winds, especially for people who live and live in areas prone to hydrometeorological disasters," said Teguh.
