Leading The Executive Session Of The Asian Parliament, Fadli Zon Declares The Formation Of The Palestinian Commission

ANTALYA - Chairman of the House of Representatives Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) Fadli Zon (F-Gerindra) was elected as Chair of the Assembly by the Executive Council of the Asian Parliament Organization, Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Antalya, Turkey on 26-29 November 2023. The Forum was attended by approximately sixteen Executive Council members including Turkey, China, Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Cambodia, Bahrain, Azerbaijan.

The hearing discussed the need for APA as a forum for Asian parliamentary organizations, forming special commissions related to Palestine that could focus on making effective parliamentary diplomacy efforts to promote peace, stop wars, as well as investigate Israel's war crimes, as well as encourage Palestinian independence.

Fadli Zon led the formation of the Palestinian Commission in the Asian Parliament by emphasizing the urgency of the current Palestinian situation. He also as chairman of the trial knocked the hammer and declared the establishment of the Palestinian Commission.

The deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party said that parliament, as a representation of the people, must be able to demonstrate its commitment to fight various forms of colonialism, as Israel has done against Palestine so far.

"For this reason, he invites the parliament of Asian countries that are members of APA together to unite to reject and fight the Israeli occupation," Fadli said in his statement, Tuesday, November 28.

At this session, a number of parliaments expressed views on the importance of APA parliamentary efforts to support Palestinian independence. Also present at this session was Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament, Ali Feisal, who was then elected Chairman of the Palestinian Commission.

The intense struggle of the Indonesian House of Representatives in encouraging parliamentary diplomacy efforts to support Palestinian independence has received appreciation from the parliament of Asian countries that are present. Indonesia was asked to become a Raporteur in this Palestinian Commission.

In this APA trial, Fadli Zon also condemned the dual standards and defamation of countries that have often voiced human rights and democracy, but were silent when responding to Israeli atrocities against Palestine.

Israel is brutally targeting attacks on civilians including women and children. More than 15,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured.

"Israel has also been proven to be bombing hospitals, schools, journalists, refugees, and including Indonesian hospitals," he said.

He said, all barbaric acts, beyond humanity, are even crimes against humanity and war crimes.

"The countries supporting Israeli atrocities have no more legitimacy talking about moral humanity, democracy and human rights," said Fadli.

He also reiterated the full support of the Indonesian people, in pushing for the realization of Palestinian independence. The current temporary ceasefire in Gaza will not be effective in stopping Israeli war crimes except the permanent ceasefire and the release of Palestinians from colonialism.

To that end, he invited the Asian parliament present to make joint efforts to encourage the achievement of Palestinian independence, one of which was through the newly formed Palestinian Commission.
