Sandiaga Uno: Tourism Foreign Exchange Value Reaches 10.46 Billion US Dollars

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said, until now the value of tourism foreign exchange has reached 10.46 billion US dollars. "The increase in the value of tourism foreign exchange to 10.46 billion US dollars, the percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) contribution reached 3.83 percent in the third quarter of 2023," Sandiaga said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 28.

Sandiaga said that the number of foreign tourist arrivals reached 8.51 million visits.

"We have revised this number (of) foreign tourists twice. Initially it was 7.4 (million), after that 8.5, now it looks like we will reach 10 million," he said. Sandiaga revealed the achievement of foreign tourist travel figures, surpassing the initial achievement target set previously, which was 7.4 million.

Meanwhile, regarding the travel and tourism development index (TTDI), for 2024 it is hoped that it can penetrate the world's top 30 rankings.

To improve this achievement in the future, in this meeting the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga invited Committee III of the DPD RI to collaborate in an effort to make the tourism sector the locomotive of economic revival and the opening of employment in Indonesia.

"We hope that DPD friends can contribute so that our target in creating 4.4 million new jobs in 2024 can be achieved," he said.

Responding to this achievement, Chairman of Committee III DPD RI, Hasan Basri appreciated the achievements and realization of the Kemenparekraf program until the third quarter of 2023.

"We also encourage the strengthening of the 2024 Kemenparekraf activity and budget program, such as strategic plans and work plans for 2024, the 2024 budget ceiling, and strategic programs in 2024 that support equitable distribution and encourage the growth of tourism areas and the creative economy throughout Indonesia," he said.
