Mercedes-Benz Opens Europe's First Charging Center

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz announced the opening of Europe's first brand charging center, more precisely in Mannheim City, the 2nd largest city in Baden-W\"urttemberg, Germany.

It also said this was the 4th charging hub following a similar charging center recently opened in several areas, such as Atlanta in the United States, as well as Chengdu and Foshan in China.

Reporting from the company's official website, November 27, this hub has six charging points, each with an output of 300 kW. Each charger has only one port, to ensure maximum energy reaches the charging vehicle. In addition, with a large output of various models, Mercedes-Benz electric cars can charge 10-80 percent, in just 20 minutes.

The opening of Germany's first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub is an important step in our journey towards emission-free driving. By expanding the fast charging infrastructure, we make it easier for our customers to switch to electric mobility and at the same time set new standards for charging electric vehicles," said Franz Reiner, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG.

Interestingly, this hub is open to all vehicles of all sizes. Meanwhile, specifically for Mercedes owners, they will get support for plug-and-charge, special fares, and free charging through the Mercedes me Charge service over the next few months.

In more detail, this hub has a large parking space, and a comfortable waiting place is available. This hub has a photovoltaic canopy that protects against bad weather as well as contributes to renewable energy production. Meanwhile, on the roof, LED provides information about the availability of each charging point and charging status.

Quoted from the Arenaev page, Tuesday, November 28, this step also reinforces Mercedes' commitments in Europe, which previously had also developed hubs with several well-known partners.

The manufacturer, which gave birth to premium cars, plans to have 2,000 hubs worldwide by the end of the decade, covering more than 10,000 fast charging points, and 2,000 of which are already available by the end of 2024, including more than 200 in Europe.

Prior to the end of this year, more Mercedes charging hubs will be launched in the US and China, and starting in 2024 will also open hubs in Italy, Spain and France.
