The 4 soldiers died while chasing the KKB who committed the murder of a resident of Paro District, Nduga. Puan said the state must not lose to separatist actions that continue to carry out violent acts.

"I hope that the government together with the TNI/Polri ensure the safety of the community, especially those in Papua, will immediately stop the acts of violence carried out by separatist groups," said the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

"Many of the nation's best citizens and sons from the TNI/Polri have died due to the KKB atrocities. The state must take measured decisive action," added Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also highlighted the importance of the conduciveness of state security ahead of the 2024 General Election. "The TNI as the main component of the national defense system has an important role to play in helping to secure elections, especially in areas prone to clashes such as in Nduga. Cooperation with the Police and other security institutions must be carried out optimally," said Bung Karno's grandson.

Therefore, Puan hopes that all elements of security and defense can map all areas that have a level of conflict vulnerability. Preventive measures with counseling to residents are considered to also have to be maximized.

"That way, it is hoped that conduciveness ahead, post, and during the implementation of the General Election can be maintained in all regions in the country. Efforts to anticipate potential vulnerabilities in conflict-prone areas must be a priority," explained Puan.

The DPR also highlighted how separatist actions could threaten Indonesia's image in the eyes of the world. For this reason, Puan asked all elements of the nation to work together to support the performance of the TNI/Polri and other agencies that continue to try to crush the KKB.

"Of course, support from the community is also needed to create security in our beloved country," he said.

"We don't want the good name of the nation to be tarnished due to actions such as separatism or terrorism. There is no place for violence in Indonesia," said Puan.
