Toba Caldera Resort Gets IDR 2 Trillion Investment, Sandiaga: Green Tourism Becomes An Attractiveness

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said, Toba Caldera Resort managed by the Lake Toba Authority Management Agency (BPODT) will receive additional investment of IDR 2 trillion for 2024.

This was said by Menparekraf Sandiaga when he witnessed the agreement between the two latest collaborations from BPODT and investors, namely TOCA Resort and Mitra Jaya on Sunday, November 26.

From this collaboration, it was agreed that in Lebaran 2024, TOCA Resort will start building additional facilities in the form of accommodation as many as 20 units.

Meanwhile, Mitra Jaya at the end of the first semester or in June 2024 will also build environmentally friendly accommodation facilities to support the increasing number of tourist visits.

"One thing that can attract investors to invest is green tourism, because there are currently many requests for green tourism. No longer massive types of development in terms of structure, but united with nature," said Sandiaga in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, November 27.

Menparekraf Sandiaga said, this year the number of tourist visits to the Toba Caldera Resort has reached 300,000.

He is also optimistic that this figure will increase, along with the addition of facilities to be carried out, as well as from the 3A side, Accessibility, Ammunity, and Attraction.

Coupled with the holding of several international events on Lake Toba, such as Aquabike Jetski and Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC).

"The number of visits (will) achieve revenue above the target, which is 4 times in 1 day," he said.

According to Sandiaga, several developments in the area also directly have an impact on the welfare of the community and the local economy.

"That is our hope, because the government continues to build roads, ports, and airports. We can also build Sibisa Airport, soon it will be finished. Toll roads will also reach Parapat. One day, all of this will be connected, the connectivity will certainly be international, world-class," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of BPODT, Jimmy Bernando Panjaitan, said that until now the total investment value at the Toba Caldera Resort which has been discussed has reached IDR 2 trillion, both already running and in the process.

This figure includes the newly agreed figure, namely from the TOCA Resort of almost Rp. 100 billion and Mitra Jaya of almost Rp. 500 billion.

"If the total investment obtained reaches Rp. 2 trillion," he added.
