Menpora Supports North Sumatra To Host World Rally
MEDAN - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo revealed that he strongly supports the Lake Toba area, North Sumatra, and was appointed to host a world-level rally in 2025.
"I think this momentum is very good and we have to take advantage of it best. We have to take this because it will have a huge impact on Lake Toba tourism. I don't think it's impossible for us to take the WRC," he said in Simalungun, Saturday.
As a form of support, he continued, when reviewing the implementation of the 2023 Lake Toba Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) which is currently taking place in the Lake Toba Area, his party will provide assistance when conducting bidding or bidding to host the 2025 WRC.
"Why is assistance necessary, because usually there must be a role for the government in that. Likewise, when implementing the championship, there must be assistance from the government both in terms of budget and when looking for sponsors," he said.
On that occasion, he also expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) for holding the APRC 2023 Lake Toba very well and the more encouraging rally was not only followed by domestic teams but also from a number of other countries such as Thailand, New Zealand, and India.

He also expressed his joy with the progress shown by the Indonesian rally team which had used quality racing cars with various equipment which had also been very good.
"The car used by our Pereli is no less good than the car used by the world pereli. This is of course proof that our Pereli is ready to compete with world-class Pereli," he said.
"Once again, of course, we are very supportive if the upcoming WRC in 2025 is held in the Lake Toba area. Earlier, we also discussed at first glance regarding our desire to hold a world-level rally in Lake Toba in 2025. That wish must be realized, nothing is impossible," he said.
