Firli Bahuri Suspect Of SYL Extortion, NasDem: Evidence There Is No Safe Position In Our Republic

The General Treasurer of the NasDem Party, Ahmas Sahroni, appreciated the performance of the National Police who named KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in the extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). Sahroni assessed that Firli's determination proves that the Police are serious in handling the case.

"Because maybe people are waiting for the case process to confiscate public vision, that there was a case that was not clear and finally last night, at midnight the Polda Metro was announced," said Sahroni when contacted by reporters, Thursday, November 23.

"This is proof that our republic is not in a safe position and we don't want to justify all parties who seem to feel right," he continued.

The deputy chairman of Commission III of the DPR also asked Filri Bahuri to resign as chairman of the KPK.

"The FB should with the initiative resign on the status it has received," he said.

Previously, Sahroni urged the National Police to investigate the alleged extortion of Firli Bahuri against Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Sahroni's insistence that the police immediately investigate Firli departing from Syahrul's arrest by the KPK which was considered arbitrary.

"Then I will use the authority to ask the police to immediately (examine Firli Bahuri)," said Sahroni at Nasdem Tower, Jakarta, Thursday, October 12, evening.

"If it is true that there is an alleged extortion, then the police must also do the same," he continued.

Syahrul was arrested by the KPK in an apartment located in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Thursday, October 12. The arrest took place a day before Syahrul attended the KPK summons, Friday, October 13.
