Minister Of Manpower Ida Reminds Governor To Announce UMP No Later Than Today
The government through the Ministry of Manpower again reminded governors in all provinces to determine and announce the latest increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2024 on November 21, 2023.
Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said the Regency/City Minimum Wage must be determined by the Governor no later than November 30, 2023.
"I remind you again, Governor, Regent and Mayor, that the policy of determining the Minimum Wage must be based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 51 of 2023 concerning Amendments to PP 36/2021 concerning Wages," said Ida, in an official statement, Tuesday, November 21.
"PP 51 of 2023 has been determined by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and then in Law on November 10, 2023," continued Ida.
Ida also emphasized that the determination of Minimum Wage in all regions in Indonesia, at the Provincial and Regency/City levels is based on input from the Wage Council in each region.
Furthermore, Ida Fauziyah admitted that she had given directions on Wages Policy and PP 51/year 2023 to provincial/disnakers/district/city on November 13, 2023, in Jakarta.
"The substance of the regulation and content of the draft PP 51 of 2023 has also been socialized since a few months ago in all regions in Indonesia, by inviting representatives from elements of the Labor Union/Labor Union, Entrepreneurs, the Manpower Service, Academics or experts," he said.
Ida said there are three things that need to be understood and implemented seriously by the Regional Head or Acting Regional Head regarding several points of substance of the arrangement in PP 51 of 2023.
First, continued Ida, the Provincial and Regency/City Minimum Wage policy applies to workers with a working period of under 1 year.
Second, the formula for adjusting or increasing the Minimum Wage uses three main variables, namely Inflation, Economic Growth and Certain Index, which is symbolized as Alpha in PP 51/2023.

Third, the wage policy for workers/laborers with a working period of more than 1 year or more, the Policy for Productivity-Based Wages or Performance is mandatory using the Wage-Scale Structure (SUSU) instrument.
"This means that workers/laborers with a working period of more than 1 year are entitled to be paid or paid above the Minimum Wage which is adjusted to the performance output or productivity of workers and the company's capabilities," he said.
Ida also gave appreciation to the Governors, Regents/Mayors, Kapolda, KABINDA and the Head of Manpower and the Regional Wage Council for their support and hard work in guarding and making the determination of the 2024 Minimum Wage successful throughout Indonesia.
