Firli Bahuri Makes Sure Not To Resign Amid Cases Of Alleged SYL Extortion

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri will not back down even though he was dragged away by the alleged extortion of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Firli said this case was a corruptor attempt to fight back the ongoing legal process.

"Personally, I have never felt disappointed with anyone, including never being disappointed with the state because in principle the state needs the best service of all the nation's children and all law enforcers not to step down from one point of view about ignorance. Especially facing the counterattack of corruptors," Firli said at a press conference at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 20.

Firli also claimed that he had never blackmailed or received gratuities from anyone. Including, Syahrul, who is currently being held at the KPK Detention Center.

"I stated at every opportunity that I have never extorted anyone and I have never been involved in bribery and gratuities to anyone," he said.

He also emphasized that he had conveyed everything he knew in front of Polda Metro Jaya investigators when he was questioned on Thursday, November 16. "I don't care that I am retired by the Commissioner General of Police or as a KPK leader. I hope to pick up justice," said Firli.

Previously reported, Firli had undergone a second examination on Thursday, November 16. The Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak said there were 15 questions asked by investigators.

It was not clearly stated what investigators studied from the dozens of questions raised. Ade only emphasized the investigation process to investigate allegations of extortion and or receiving gratuities.
