The Ministry Of Health Affirms COVID-19 Vaccination Can Not Be A Travel Requirements

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) emphasized that an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine cannot become a travel requirement. Travel requirements related to COVID-19 test results, namely antigen and PCR swabs still apply.

"Then (answering questions, red) about whether vaccines are possible or not is a requirement for traveling, yes, not until now. Even the WHO does not require vaccines as one of the requirements for travelers", said vaccination spokesperson from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Siti Nadia Tarmizi, Monday, February 15.

Nadia said someone who has been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine still has the potential to contract the virus.

"Because the protection is for themselves, for the time being, we still haven't covered 70 percent, so herd immunity hasn't occurred. So that until now, vaccination has not become a policy for travelers", said Nadia.

Previously related to micro-based Restrictions On Community Activities (PPKM) in a number of areas, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force extended the provisions for long-distance travelers through the COVID-19 Task Force Circular Number 5 of 2021.

For trips on Java and outside Java, travelers who are using land public transportation will receive a random antigen test by the COVID-19 Task Force in the regions.

Then, travelers who are using an airplane must have a negative RT-PCR test 3x24 hours before departure or a rapid antigen test 2x24 hours before departure. Meanwhile, sea transportation travelers use RT-PCR or antigen 3x24 hours before departure.

Then, travelers who are using trains between cities must have the results of the RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test 3x24 hours before departure or geNose as an option.

"For travelers who are using private vehicles, it is advised to use RT-PCR or antigen 3x24 hours before departure", said Wiku.

Especially on the island of Bali, air travelers need an RT PCR test maximum of 2x24 hours before departure or antigen a maximum of 1x24 hours before departure.

"As for sea and air transportation to Bali, both private and public, use the RT PCR test or antigen 3x4 hours before departure", he said.
