U-17 World Cup Results 2023: Mali U-17 Qualifies For Round Of 16

JAKARTA - Mali U-17 ensures that tickets qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup after a 5-1 win over Canada U-17 at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Thursday, November 16, 2023.

The two advantage goals that Mali U-17 scored were each scored by Ibrahim Diarra in the 14th minute and Mahamoud Barry in the 28th minute after involving a video assistant referee (VAR).

Canada U-17 then reduced the gap to 1-2 right at the end of normal time in the first half. The goal was made by Richard Chukwu.

In the second half, Mali U-17 added three more goals to the Canadian U-17 goal. The goal party started with Ibrahim Kanate who maximized Diara's pass in the 73rd minute.

Only four minutes later Hamidou Makayou listed his name on the scoreboard. Then Mali U-17's last goal was scored by Ousmane Thiero in the 90+1' minute.

The result made Mali U-17 finish in second place with six points. They accompanied Spain U-17 who finished as group winners to advance to the knockout stages.

Canada U-17 is confirmed to be eliminated from the 2023 U-17 World Cup. They have no points at all from the three matches played.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan U-17, which drew against Spain U-17 in the last match, sits in third place with four points. They hope to qualify through the best third-placed path.
