Google Must Pay 36 Percent of Advertising Revenue to Apple
JAKARTA – Google must pay Apple 36 percent of their advertising revenue every time Safari users use Google search. This was revealed in an antitrust trial.
Reporting from Engadget, the amount of this payment should be kept secret. However, University of Chicago Economics Professor Kevin Murphy revealed this when he took the witness stand on Monday, November 13.
This number is in the spotlight because it is thought to be greater than Google's efforts when it wants to become the default search engine in Safari. The company paid around 18 billion US dollars or around IDR 282 trillion in 2021.
Actually, the nominal value of 36 percent is not very clear. However, Google is estimated to pay tens of billions of US dollars to Apple because Google's annual income is not small.

In 2022, Google's total revenue will reach 279.8 billion US dollars (IDR 4.3 quadrillion). Much of this revenue is supported by advertising so the deal of being a major search engine is probably worth a little more.
Currently, Google is undergoing an antitrust or antitrust trial with Apple. Google was accused of trying to maintain market dominance by the Department of Justice (DOJ) because it wanted to become Safari's default search engine.
Not long ago, Google and Apple were asked to publish details of their arrangement in court. However, both of them raised objections because there was the potential to weaken their position when facing competitors.
