Ahmad Basarah Supports Equal World Economic Cooperation
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Basarah fully supports equal world economic cooperation and respects the sovereignty of each country such as the concept of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation initiated by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jingping.
This view and attitude was conveyed by Ahmad Basarah during a speech to delegates from political parties from Southeast Asian and South Asian countries who gathered at the forum with the theme "Enhancing the Pillars of High Quality Development, Embracing a Better Future of Belt and Road Cooperation Together" in Kunming, China on Friday (10/11).
"The Indonesian nation is not allergic to international cooperation because Indonesia's nationalism is not exclusive, but rather grows in the park of internationalism and associations with nations in the world with the principle of mutual benefit and respect for the sovereignty of each country," Ahmad Basarah explained in his statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

Ahmad Basarah explained that the concept of BRI cooperation by China offers a form of economic cooperation based on the common will, equality, planned and carried out together, as well as fair sharing of mutual benefits for both parties," he continued.
According to him, this form of economic work should be used as a role model in cooperation between countries in the world for the creation of social justice and the welfare of all mankind on earth.
"The BRI concept of aiming to prosper the world community without discrimination and intimidation is a noble goal that deserves the support of all nations in the world who want world peace and social justice and the welfare of all mankind can be realized," he explained.
This is also in line with the principles of the Bandung Dasa Sila which was initiated by Bung Karno at the 1955 Asian Africa Conference.
"It's time for us to leave a pattern of world economic cooperation that is not equal and unfair and only makes one country or one region progress while other countries or regions remain developed or underdeveloped," concluded Ahmad Basarah who is also Deputy Chairperson of the PBNU Lakpesdam.
The doctor for law at Diponegoro University, Semarang, explained that the President of the People's Republic of China (RRT), Xi Jinping, on October 3, 2013 in Jakarta had conveyed the idea of One Belt One Road at the DPR RI Building.
Indonesia kemudian menjadi salah satu negara yang sejak awal mendukung ini, yang dalam lebih dari satu dekade telah banyak menjalin kerjaan strategis dan komprehensif antara Indonesia dan China.
The concept of world economic cooperation that took inspiration for the ancient Silk Road focuses on increasing connectivity in all lines, starting from improving infrastructure, trade, finance and inter-community connectivity policies in order to build a global economy, global development, and new platforms of more conducive and mutually beneficial international economic cooperation.
To achieve that goal, the RRT created a development strategy within the framework of BRI that encourages connectivity in six major economic corridors including China and Mongolia and Russia; Eurasian countries; Central and West Asia; Pakistan; other countries on the Indian continent; also Indocina.
More than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations have signed Belt and Road cooperation documents, including Indonesia.
