Gerindra Singgung There Are Parties Who Don't Like Gibran, PKS: We Have No Problem

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PKS DPP, Mardani Ali Sera, responded to the statement by the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, who mentioned that there were parties who did not like Gibran Rakabuming running for vice president in the 2024 presidential election.

Mardani said that his party had no problem with Gibran's candidacy as Prabowo Subianto's vice presidential candidate.

According to him, all young Indonesians do have rights and must be given the opportunity to advance to become national leaders.

"Young people have rights, young people need to be given the opportunity, even good. (PKS) There are no problems with young people," said Mardani, Saturday, November 11.

However, continued Mardani, it should be underlined that the process carried out must be in accordance with ethics and rules. As stipulated in the legislation, especially regarding the age limit, it is appropriate to become a vice presidential candidate.

"The condition is that everything is carried out in the right process, ethical processes," explained the member of Commission II of the DPR.

PKS, he said, is ready to support any young people who want to lead the nation as long as they have quality and integrity and are truly elected by the people.

"(In principle) We support young people with quality and integrity, as long as the people's choice must be ready," added Mardani.

Previously, Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani suspected that there were parties who did not like the future presidential and vice presidential candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who would contest the 2024 presidential election.

This dislike, according to Muzani, is suspected because there are parties who are not ready for the advancement of President Joko Widodo's eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming, as a representation of young people to lead Indonesia in 2024.

Moreover, said Muzani, the role of youth in the 2024 presidential election will be more significant. Given, almost 60 percent of voters in the upcoming elections are young people.

"That's why many people don't like the Prabowo-Gibran couple. Many people are not prepared for the 2024 election situation," said Muzani in a press statement Friday, November 10.
