The Riau Islands Provincial Government Collects IDR 1.4 Billion From The Retribution Of Permits For The Use Of Foreign Workers

TANJUNGPINANG - Riau Islands Provincial Government through the Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans) collected revenue of around Rp. 1.4 billion from the retribution of permits for the use of foreign workers (TKA) until mid-October 2023.

The Head of the Riau Islands Mangara Simarmata Manpower and Transmigration Office is optimistic that the realization of the retribution income for permits for the use of foreign workers until the end of 2023 will reach IDR 4.4 billion.

"With two months remaining (November-December), we are sure we can still get another IDR 3 billion, so the total is around IDR 4.4 billion," said Mangara in Tanjungpinang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, October 27.

Mangara said that the revenue for the 2023 TKA use permit levy did not meet the target budgeted for in the 2023 Riau Islands APBD of IDR 8 billion.

One of these is because there are a number of foreign workers working in two different provinces, so the Riau Islands Manpower and Transmigration Office is not authorized to collect retribution funds for the use of foreign workers, but to become the authority of the central government.

"For example, the TKA concerned works in Riau Islands and Kalimantan. So, the levy levies are included in non-tax state revenues (PNBP)," he said.

He conveyed that the revenue for retribution permits for the use of foreign workers in Riau Islands was obtained from approximately 2,000 foreign workers working in local districts/cities, including Batam City, Bintan Regency and Karimun Regency.

The number of foreign workers is the most dominant in Batam, along with the increasing number of industrial companies in the region.

Mangara added that the Riau Islands Provincial Government together with all stakeholders continue to increase supervision of licensing for the use of foreign workers by companies in the local area.

According to him, foreign workers who have worked for more than six months in Riau Islands are required to have a taxpayer's main number.

Furthermore, the company/user of foreign workers is charged with paying a retribution to the state/regional of 100 US dollars per month for each foreign worker.

"TKA user companies must have a document on the plan to use foreign workers (RPTKA). That's what we are after to maximize local revenue from the retribution of permits for the use of foreign workers," said Mangara.
