Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison 2 Couriers 6 Kg Of Shabu

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, sentenced the defendant TM to 18 years in prison. Ridhasa alias Tomy and the defendant Dudy Iskandar alias Jul in the case became couriers of six kilograms of methamphetamine.

"Imposing to the defendants TM. Ridhasa alias Tomy and Dudy Iskandar alias Jul for 18 years in prison a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Judge Phillip Mark Soentpiert at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

He said from the facts of the trial, the panel of judges believed that the two defendants were proven and guilty of violating Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code, as the primary indictment.

In essence, said Philip, namely without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over narcotics class I weighing more than five, namely 6,000 grams of methamphetamine.

"The thing that burdens the two defendants does not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics and has been convicted, while the thing that relieves the defendant is being polite at trial, admitting, and regretting his actions," he said.

The decision from the panel of judges was the same as the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Fransiska Panggabean (conform).

After reading the verdict, the panel of judges gave seven days of thinking to the defendant's legal counsel, the defendant and the Public Prosecutor's Office of North Sumatra.

The indictment revealed on April 18, 2023 that the defendant Dudy Iskandar contacted the defendant TM. Ridhasa alias Tomy asked for a job. Then, Johan (in the investigation) offered a job to deliver methamphetamine to Depok, West Java.

The two defendants brought the evidence to Kualanamu International Airport Airport by driving a car. After arriving at the airport, officers from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate arrested the two defendants along with evidence.

As a result of the interrogation, the two defendants were promised to get Rp. 60 million if they could take the goods to their destination.
