Dave Grohl Said About Nirvana's Success Which Was Considered Contrary To Their Punk Roots

JAKARTA - Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Steve Albini discussed claims that Nirvana's success was against their punk roots.

In Conan O'Brien's podcast, Conan Needs A Friend which was released on Monday, O'Brien asked if Nirvana's success was against their punk DIY (Do It Yourself) background.

In response, producer Albini said she often received criticism from people 'outside of punk culture', saying: 'I've never really experienced anything from anyone in the punk world that is not purely an expression of jealousy.'

Overall, Nirvana fans want Nirvana to be successful, independent, and loved, he continues.

Grohl also gave his thoughts about navigating Nirvana's success.

Before we recorded the album Nevermind we lived in poverty, he said, describing a small apartment strengthening' which he lived with frontman Kurt Cobain who was filled with corndogs and'smoking cigarettes'.

I'll do whatever it takes to have my own apartment and be able to do it through making music.

"I know the transition is happening fast, but you don't just get 1 million dollars in your letter box the next day," he joked.

The Nirvana drummer also went on to say he didn't feel 'conflicted' or 'harmful' because he had paid off his mother's house or asked for a car with the band's money.

"I think the reason why I don't feel conflict personally is because I know this band is not doing anything outside of ourselves that is actually to achieve it," Grohl told O'Brien.
