Gibran Is Considered Suitable To Be A Vice Presidential Candidate, An Opportunity For Young People To Manage The Country

JAKARTA - Alumni President Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore Chapter Indonesia, Fathul Nugroho encourages Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run as a vice presidential candidate. Because, this moment can prove that young people have the ability to manage the country.

"This is an opportunity for young Indonesians to lead and show the ability to manage a country as big as Indonesia towards economic glory in 2045," Fathul was quoted as saying, Friday, October 20.

According to him, many young people have become world leaders, and have proven successful. Some of them were Emmanuel Macron who became President of France at the age of 39 in 2017.

Then, Sanna Marin as the youngest Finnish Prime Minister in 34 years in 2020. Most recently, Daniel Noboa became President of Ecuador at the age of 35 in 2023.

"Don't worry too much, it's considered too young and less experienced. It's time for the young to work for the progress of Indonesia," he said.

Gibran is expected to be able to show an advantage in terms of energy and speed in working for the people. Considering that the pairs of presidential and other vice presidential candidates who have registered with the General Election Commission (KPU) are much older than Gibran.

"Gibran is expected to be able to encourage even higher Indonesia's economic growth. This is done through downstream industrialization in various sectors, especially the natural resources, plantations, agriculture, and fisheries sectors," said Fathul.

In addition, Fathul also hopes that Gibran can further simplify the licensing bureaucratic process and capital assistance in doing business. Moreover, Indonesia still needs 4 million new entrepreneurs to become developed countries.

"Gibran is expected to make it easier for the bureaucratic process of disaster and capital assistance in doing business. So that new national and world scale entrepreneurs will grow. Given, Gibran's background is a businessman in the culinary field before becoming Mayor of Solo," said Fathul.

On the other hand, Fathul also advised that if elected as vice president, Gibran must maintain integrity as a leader who does not commit corruption, collusion and Nepotism (KKN), and enforce fair law.

"No less important, Gibran must always pay attention to and prioritize the interests of the people," said Fathul.
