When White Shoes & The Couples Company Performs Old Songs In The Irama Series: One Decade Of Irama Nusantara
JAKARTA - White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC) appeared to close the Irama Series: A Decade of Irama Nusantara at the National Awakening Museum, Central Jakarta on Sunday, October 15.
The group, which was formed in 2002, performed popular Indonesian songs released in the 1950s and 1960s.
The WSATC opened its appearance by performing an old song entitled Cat Action, created by Oey Yok Siang which was popular in the 1950s.
Then, Aprilia Apsari cs performed regional songs, including Lembe Lembe, Tjangkurileung, and Tam Tam Buku.
On the sidelines of his appearance, Yusmario Farabi (guitar) reminisced about the moment when WSATCC recorded regional songs in Lokananta, Solo.
Ten years ago we recorded at Lokananta, Solo. Special for us because we recorded regional songs. It turns out that many regional songs are good and arranged by Indonesian musicians 60 to 70s, and it inspires us," said Yusmario Farabi.

In addition to the WSATCC, the closing night of the Irama Series: One Decade of Irama Nusantara also featured Batavia Collective collaborating with Fariz RM, The Panturas, Endah N Rhesa and Bangkutaman, Nonaria, Louis Gallaby - Gusty Pratama, and Mondo Gascaro.
Similar to the WSATCC, all performers bring Indonesian musicians' works from the past with a more recent approach.
We are not just performing past musicians' songs, but this is Indonesian music. Because these are our roots, from popular and general music. We will not be able to go anywhere if we don't know the roots," concluded Mondo Gascaro as one of the performers.
