Message From 65 Years Old Health Workers In Papua Who Get Vaccinated First

JAKARTA - Dr. Renny Bagus (65 years) is the first elderly health worker to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Papua.

"It is true that I am the oldest health worker in Papua to receive the COVID-19 vaccine," said the chairman of the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) Papua, dr. Renny Bagus, in Jayapura, reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 9.

Dr. Renny, who was vaccinated on Monday, February 8, said that he had no significant complaints since being vaccinated.

Health workers must be the pioneers in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, which initially prioritized health workers.

"This opportunity should be taken because receiving the vaccine can increase the recipient's immune system as well as protect themselves," said dr. Renny admitted that he had no special readiness before receiving the vaccine.

"Health workers are expected to be able to participate in the COVID-19 vaccine program because currently it is prioritizing health workers so that they become an example for people who will also be targets of the vaccine," hoped dr. Renny.

Meanwhile the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Papua Health Office, de. Aaron Rumainum separately admitted that the achievement of the COVID-19 vaccination had only reached 16.84 percent for the first vaccine or 3,288 people who were vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the recipients of the second vaccine were only 3.45 percent or 673 people, said Aaron, adding that the number of health workers who were vaccinated was 19,529 people.

"Hopefully the target of health workers can be met so that health workers are protected from COVID-19," hoped dr. Aaron Rumainum.
